Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the arrival celebration not show confetti before?
It does now. The modal that fires when we detect you've reached your gym plays a full confetti burst and on 3+ day streaks an animated fire effect.
I'm getting notifications to "drop in" right after I finish working out. How do I stop that?
Fixed. GymTime now suppresses drop-in nudges for 3 hours after you arrive at a gym and for 3 hours after you complete a workout. It also never nudges you to drop in if you already have a workout window booked โ€” your existing plan takes priority.
Can I tell GymTime I don't want to use certain equipment?
Yes. Open Settings โ†’ Gym. You'll see every piece of equipment the AI detected at your gym. Tap any item to blacklist it โ€” the workout generator will substitute alternatives using only the equipment you're comfortable with. Blacklists are per-gym, so you can have different preferences at different locations.
What happens if I feel pain during a workout?
GymTime checks in with you at the halfway point of every workout. If you say you have sharp pain, we show a medical disclaimer, route you to a safe-stop flow, and log the event locally so future workouts can avoid the same movement for the next two weeks. GymTime is not a doctor โ€” if you're hurt, seek medical attention.
The machine I need is taken. What do I do?
Tap the "Taken" button next to the exercise. GymTime will generate 3 alternative exercises that target the same muscle group using different equipment. Your rest timer pauses while it loads.
Will food suggestions match what I just trained?
Yes. After a leg day we steer you toward protein-dense meals (steakhouses, grills, protein bowls). After cardio or HIIT we prioritize fast-carb replenishment (smoothies, juice, aรงaรญ). Upper body and push/pull days lean Mediterranean, poke, and salad-forward.
How do I opt out of analytics?
Settings โ†’ Data & Privacy โ†’ "Opt out of analytics". Flipping this on immediately clears any queued events on your device and prevents any future events from being written or sent.
Can I see the app tour again?
Yes. Settings โ†’ Data & Privacy โ†’ "Replay app tour". The 6-step intro will run the next time you visit the Today tab.
Does GymTime share my pain or injury data?
No. Pain check answers and the accountability log never leave your device. Only the workout generator reads them locally to personalize your next session.

Your Calendar Data

We read your calendar to find workout windows. Your actual events โ€” titles, descriptions, attendees โ€” never leave your phone. We only process timing and availability.

Accountability Log

GymTime keeps a private on-device log of workout signals you generate during a session: pain check answers, exercise swap reasons, and machine-occupancy events. This log never leaves your device and is never synced to our servers. It's used locally by the workout generator to steer future workouts around movements that recently caused pain. You can clear it anytime by deleting and reinstalling the app.

Analytics

Analytics are opt-in by default and help us fix bugs and improve the app. You can disable analytics at any time in Settings โ†’ Data & Privacy. When you disable analytics, any queued events on your device are immediately cleared and no future events will be recorded or sent. We only flush one event type (departure_action) to our Supabase backend in real time; everything else stays on-device.

Equipment & Workout Data

Your gym profile now includes an AI-detected list of available equipment and an optional blacklist of equipment you'd rather not use. Both live in your local app storage and are synced to your profile in Supabase if you're signed in. The blacklist is read by our workout generator to ensure the AI never suggests exercises requiring equipment you've opted out of.
